DESIGN AND PRODUCTION

Design

We design our products with three attributes in mind: quality, durability and versatility (on the horse, in the home or on the streets!). Our items are made with timeless fabrics and colours. We are constantly striving to simplify our products and to always choose the right materials for the right product to ensure durability and versatility. Today, there is the equivalent of one truck load of clothes ending up in landfills every second*, so our responsibility as designers is to produce smaller collections and design items that are easy to care for, to repair, to reuse and to ultimately recycle.

Production

Upstream production accounts for the majority of the GHG emissions of a garment. As an equestrian and lifestyle company, we are accountable for eliminating the negative environmental and social impact caused by our own activity. Therefore, the first step for us is to screen our value chain and make changes wherever needed. This is a long process, which wasn’t made easier by a global pandemic, but we are making progress in achieving transparency and building trust with our suppliers. Our objective is that by year 2030 we will have full traceability and transparency for all of our products down to the raw material.

Since transport also accounts for a large part of our carbon emissions, we have taken the steps to relocate most of our production to Europe to minimise some of our transport emissions. We are always trying to produce all our labels (hand and neck tags and patches) close to the production unit to cut transportation. We are far from perfect (yet!), but we are doing our best to change!
